Shaker Boxes

Some of our salvaged Chestnut was used by Jerome Pincoske to make these classic shaker boxes.

"I do like working with chestnut and have had a good response to the contrasting grains for the sides to the tops."

"The "swallowtails" are carefully cut by hand, immerse the sides in very hot water, and then are bent around a wooden form. The sides are fastened with solid copper tacks, this process is repeated for the lid. Tops and bottoms are attached with wooden pegs."
