We are located in southeastern West Virginia in the heart of the Appalachians where the Mixed Mesophytic forest grows a tremendous variety of beautiful trees. Call 304.497.2756 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm eastern time to get directions. Alta Resource accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express for all orders. Prepayment by check is also an option. On large or custom sawing orders, we may request a deposit before starting the order.Customer Satisfaction On odd, salvaged, and rescued wood we make every effort to describe wood correctly, and scale generously so you get what you expect, and clear what you have paid for.
Shipping and Handling
Please note :: As of March 2003 we no longer ship or sell wood by mail order. All lumber must be picked up in Renick.
Rescued Wood
We make an effort to rescue wood, finding good stuff that might otherwise go to waste. We look for the big yard tree destined for firewood, fallen timber before it's too doady to use, and scout out the forgotten lumber stash in an old barn before it is destroyed by insects. (We don't call it salvage, because that usually means antique.) Our forests are a precious resource which could be managed in a sustainable way. We will contribute to that effort, and let you know which wood comes from sustainably managed land, and which is rescued from waste.
Custom Sawing
is available in many of the mixed mesophytic appalachian woods. If it isn't in our inventory we can find it and saw it to your specifications. Keep in mind that our web site may not always be as up to date as our real inventory. e-mail or call us at 304.497.2756 with your special request.Custom sawing up to 50" is now available. The wheel at right is part of our bandmill. We have pictures of the progress of our bandmill as it came together.
SliQ Stik
Once the mill was in operation, we saw the need for a dry-film lubricant, and we developed SliQ Stik. It improves the operation of blades in all types of wood. We are now making it available to others.
We make a non-staining, no silicone version for woodworkers, SliQ Stik 8000.
